Make sure your Mac Firewall is turned on. Add the Safari Extension Web Of Trust (WOT) to warn you of malicious web sites. Make sure you approve of the installation of all downloads and make sure the download goes to the download folder. If you install Security software which I personally feel is unnecessary and do not run myself on my Mac be sure and use a good one such as Avast which is not a resource hog.
