Most people who are prejudiced were taught to be afraid of those who are different. Sometimes, countries or cultures have a particular narrative that presents one group of people as evil or dangerous; from childhood, kids will learn that the members of that group should be avoided. People who are prejudiced often don't think that they are; they believe they have good reasons for disliking or fearing "the other."

Prejudice can occur when you make negative assumptions about someone based on their race, gender, age, religion, or other characteristics without sufficient knowledge or evidence. It is important to challenge our prejudices by educating ourselves, engaging with people different from us, and being mindful of our biases.
