Just be friendly, try to speak some English, any attempt will be appreciated, and be prepared to be amazed. Most of us are pretty friendly, but our accents and customs vary widely by region. Rural people may stare if you are very exotic. They don't mean to be rude. A lot have only seen a Muslim woman in a full veil, a Sikh man in a turban, or a woman in a sari on TV. They are just curious.Smile. If anyone is overtly rude, most likely 2 or 3 people will jump in to defend you. You will pass mostly unnoticed in our larger ,more cosmopolitan cities. Feel free to ask questions. Enjoy the wide variety of scenery , and regional foods. If you have special dietary needs, speak up, and people will do their best to oblige.Kosher foods in rural areas can be hard to find.Stock up if you are going to rove the countryside.Enjoy and welcome.
