How can you write a song if you never have any inspiration?

Sorry, but you can't. But there is a possibility that you are struggling with the concept of inspiration. If you are imagining inspiration to be a flash of insight where you 'receive' an award-winning song, complete and perfect, that you just have to jot down on paper, certainly you will never write a song. Someone said that creativity is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. Let your mind give your creative juices a kick. Start by writing anything, even if it looks and sounds like nonsense. A crazy thought just came. Start a song based on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, but where that song goes up, you go down. Where it goes down, you go up. It's just a first step. Crazy? You bet. Do it.
If it's words you are talking about and not music, then write out the lyrics of a song or poem that anyone has written, including yourself. At least 12 lines. Number them. Figure out a way to select lines randomly (don't cheat!). Put the lines together in this random way, or find a way to randomly combine the lyrics of two completely different songs. It's just a first step. Crazy? You bet. Do it.
