How did Adolf Hitler control Germany?

Hitler controlled the German economy in 1933-39 in order to prepare for his war of aggression. During World War 2 all the major countries involved found it necessary to control their economies.

Hitler managed to control the economy by using his economic policy. This policy had four major steps which included, full employment or eliminating unemployment, campaign to encourage people to work, rearming the country, and becoming a self sufficient country.

Through Propaganda- popularising anti-semitism and blaming the Jews for World War 1 etc. He also advocated the idea that Germany had been betrayed in WW1 and deserved to be a major world power, he encouraged rearmament. He conveyed these messages through a range of media including radio, cinema, newspapers and rallies such Nuremburg

Secondly, through intimidation and violence- this mainly involved the SS who were originally Hitler's protection but then replaced the SA who began posing a threat to Hitler. Using the SS, Hitler beat up any opposition on the Night of the Long Knives. There was a similar degree of violence on Kristellnacht or the Night of Broken Glass, November 1938, this was when all Jewish shops and plays of worship were destroyed, hence the name.

Law- Hitler passed the Enabling law on the 24th March 1934 to give him complete control over Germany

Controlling personal life- he created the Reich church and blocked all other forms of religion including Jehovah's Witnesses in particular. He also created the kDf (strength through joy) that allowed loyal Jews to go on holidays while other people had less exciting pursuits
