He didn't actually *write* any of it. The development of the rules and governmental structure specified in the constitution was the work of the convention as a whole and then the final wording was turned over to a committee of style. Franklin's most significant contribution was the Great Compromise. There was a significant divide between the more populous states who wanted representation in congress to be based on population and the smaller states who wanted equal representation. The disagreement seemed insoluble and the convention was in danger of breking up over the issue. Franklin proposed that the House of Representatives have proportional representation and the Senate have equal representation. this compromise was excepted and the rest, as they say, is history. he didnt...duhh Although he helped come up with the U.S. system of governemnt as outlined in the Constitution, he did not actually write any of the document.
His most important contribution was the Great Compromise. One of the major sticking points was the question of whether congressional representation would be based on population or would be equal for all states. There seemed no way to resolve the question. The more populous states wanted proportional representation and the small states wanted equal representation. Franklin proposed, and convinced the other delegates to accept, the idea of equal representation in the senate and proportional representation in the House of Representatives.
Benjamin Franklin did not write the constitution of the United States of America. The constitution was written by a group of people at a constitutional convention. The person who is thought to have had the greatest influence on the content of the constitution was James Madison.
Ben Franklin wrote part of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, the political cartoon- "Join or Die", and the Poor Richard's Almanac.
