Based on the Italian's treatment of the Libyan people, which sometimes rose to the level of war crimes, the relationship was not a good one. The Libyans attempted to rebel, but were soon defeated by superior Italian military. To the Italians' credit, they passed laws in the thirties, which gave the Libyan people more rights than were seen in other European colonies.
