Native Americas inhabited the area that is now Arizona many thousands of years before Europeans came to the region. The earliest settlements were those of the Hohokam, Anasazi, and Mogollon. The Hohokam inhabited the valleys of the Salt and Gila Rivers between 300 and 1200 AD. The first white man to enter the Arizona region was a Franciscan friar, Marcos de Niza, who passed through the San Pedro Valley on 1539. Father Eusebio Kino, a Jesuit priest, came to Arizona in 1692 and traveled as far north as present day Fairbank. He explored the region extensively and founded 24 missions throughout Arizona including Guevavi (1692), Tumacacori (1696), and San Xavier del Bac (1700). Spanish troops established the first white settlement in Arizona in 1752 at Tubac.
Marcos de Niza was the first European to explore the area in 1539. Corondo came in 1540, and members of his expedition found the Grand Canyon. Father Kino is responsilbe for the colonization of Arizona, he is known as the Father of Arizona. George Goodwin was the first territorial governor of Arizona.
The initial Africans first set foot in the continent of America during or round about the age of the Egyptian Dynasties (btw 3100-2100 BC). According to recent study, it was deduced that they embarked on commerce voyages to and fro the continent supplying the channels with salt and precious metals. It is suggested that there was a great connection with the "Olmec" civilisation of Mexico. The most recent migration was forced upon them during the hollocausts of the 16-18th Century which became known as the slave trade. African people were sold into slavery and transported by way of force into American South in 1619, by the European traders. Hundreds were cramped into the large ships, and endured hideous conditions.
