First off, it changed the way they fought. World War 1 started this but this was much bigger. Just look at the new inventions and innovations. This was the first war where Tanks were a huge part in the war. A huge change was the invention of nuclear weapons. If you look at the timing, the Japanese were 12 days away from finishing and using their nuclear weapons. If they started twelve days earlier, America would be much different. Not only did it change the way they fought, it also matured them as a nation. They saw complete devastation and mass death. After the war, there was hardly anyone to fight. They didn't want to have another world war, therefore that ideology changed Europe militarily.
