The Quartering Act caused tension between the troops and the colonists. The colonists didn't want to have the troops invade their homes but the reason they were even their was to enforce the Townshend Act.

The colonists did not react well tot he Quartering Act of 1765. They refused to provide British troops with shelter and food as they were told to do.
The Quartering Act of 1765 stated that the colonists would have to house the British troops. The colonists protested this act because they did not want these troops in their homes and they did not trust them.
Quartering act is about that all the British troops will get housing by colonists. the troops can live in any house they want. ad they don't have to pay for anything. they will get food, salt, and bedding for free.

Colonists disputed the legality of this act because it seemed to violate the Bill of Rights.
The British were sending thousands of troops over to the colonies, and they needed somewhere to stay. It was cheaper to have the British live in the houses of the colonists, and King George could keep an eye on what they - the colonists - were doing.
