Assuming that you mean Korea and Vietnam respectively, US foreign policy was dominated by two political theories: the Containment Policy and the Domino Theory, The first one, formulated in the late Forties after the Communist takeover of China and a number of East European countries, said that Communism should be contained in the territories it now controlled and that any effort to expand them further should be forcibly resisted. The second held that if one country in Asia would further fall to Communism, all other countries in the region would fall to it like so many Domino's. This policy therefore logically led first to the Korean war and later to the Vietnam war. The first one was succesful, the second one was not. On the other hand, the Domino Theory was proven wrong.
the us wanted to keep communism from spreading based on the domino theory(containment.) according to the truman doctrine the plan for asia was to hold perimeter positions offshore rather than fighting to hold ground on the mainland and they violated that in the chinese, korean, and vietnam war.
A world war of its own.
Why the US involvement in the Vietnam war lengthened can be sparated into four categories: Political, Financial, Advisory and Military.Political - Communism vs Capitalism, Cold War, Domino Theory, Truman Doctrine, Changing President, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Influence of public - Korean War, Ho Chi Minh helping.Financial - Financial air to the French - first stage of involvement.Advisory - Sending in advisors - Vietcong (figures), Strategic HamletsMilitary - Korean war (slow involvement), gulf of Tonkin (g) and Pleiku, Operation Rolling Thunder.
The US and the Allies won the war and the US gained control of the Philippines, causing it to become a world power.
When President Eisenwoer spoke of the domino theory the US was involved in The Cold War.Ê The domino theory has been used to justify the need for American intervention world wide.
The Vietnam war
are you kidding. there was the domino theory but dominoes didn't cause a war
The policy at the time was the Domino Theory, so in protection and practice of the theory, yes it was justified.
It became an example of the 'Domino Theory' .
Contain the spread of communism in every region of the world.
He feared a communist takeover in Southeast Asia if the United States left Vietnam. He believed in the plausibility of the domino theory; that Communism would continue to spread if allowed to move unchecked throughout the world. His decided that it was less costly to escalate the war and get it over with. Unfortunately, he was wrong. Once the US was deeply into the war, he did not want to lose, knowing that it would weaken US prestige in the world and with the American people to give up without winning anything. He believed in the domino theory.
Communism(domino theory)
Eisenhower apparently believed in the domino theory, at least to some extent. He took the first steps toward US involvement in Indochina.
NO- the actual War occurred after he left office. He did send some military advisers to Vietnam and started the idea of US involvement there.
Domino Theory
The domino theory applied to the United States being involved in Vietnam because communism was starting to take over Southeast Asia. Laos and Cambodia also became affected by the war in Vietnam. Other countries had tried to help and already given up by the time the United States was fully involved in the war.
