Saturn is visible in the night sky with just your eyes, no need for a telescope. It was discovered by ancient people who just looked up at the sky and saw it. no one knows when that first happened, or who first recognized that it was something different from a star.

Scientists saw that Uranus orbit did not obey the law of gravity end two scientists calculated where Neptune would be. A telescope was turned to the exact location and they found it. (The thing i wonder is how would they see it if they can barley see Uranus with the strongest telescope there is?)
