It was important to have a direct link between Europe and Asia, because Europe would need to trade with Asia and exchange good with other Natives and Explorers they met or came to Europe.
It would link them because Europe,Africa, and the Americans would have to go post to post to trade what ever they wanted in return
The Silk Road is a trade route that links Europe and Asia together. The Indian Ocean trade routes link India, west Africa, and Europe together. Although they are different in that the Indian Ocean trade is overseas and the Silk Road is overland, they are the same in that they both spread religion, and they both traded goods to Europe.
The Suez Canal allowed for a direct link to Asia through Europe without having to go around Africa. This made trade much quicker and easier.
Ireland is tiny compared to any of the other countries on the map.

The Neanderthals lived in Africa, Europe, and in parts of western and central Asia. In western France, Neanderthals left many examples of cave art. (see related link)
