Americans organized for the war on the home front by sacrificing everyday indulgences for the soldiers. Women and children went to work as well to ensure that the soldiers had all that they needed.
Americans were building ammunition and vehicles at home, letters were often sent back and forth to comfort the soldiers. The family members at home were spiritual and emotional inspirations for the soldiers to keep fighting in hopes of returning one some day.
Americans have historically been great supporters of wars being fought on foreign soil, both in word and action. During World War 2, many women went to work in factories to aid in the war effort while their men were off fighting the battle elsewhere. Many people worked to conserve goods with a rationing system to make sure that what was needed to fight the fight was available.
Workers created Victory Gardens like they did in World War 1, but people also worked on building planes and necessary weapons for World War 2, Propaganda also influenced people to work for the cause.
The Americans and the Brittan's too were the backbone of the war. For the entire story see the attached links below.
People collected tin foil, old tools, scrap metal, land, and bacon grease for making arms and ammunition. Rational gas and tires force workers to rise early and take buses, trolley's, and trains to work. People stayed home at night. People also shared housing to cut the costs and provide child care for working mothers. Neighbors used one another s appliances.
