after the "unfair" terms of the Versailles treaty, Hitler used this to manipulate the German people and get himself elected chancellor. in which he of course built up the military and invaded Poland which in turn started WWII

In Europe the war did depress the economies of many nations, especially in Germany. England had never recovered from the Great Depression and it continued for them all the way into 1955 when they finally recovered. Asian nations recovered faster because most of them were nations with agrarian economies.

The Great Depression brought economic downtimes on many countries, not just the USA. So people turned to new leaders who would bring change to their nation, and people like Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco gained support and subsequently led their countries to fascism, to ensure they would not lose again in the face of war.
