Erasmus was a humanist, who wished to educate people in the classics for the purpose of gaining a greater knowledge of God. Jan Hus was a Eucharist, famously burned at the stake in 1415. Both Erasmus and Jan Hus were important predecessors to what would eventually become the Protestant Reformation in the 16th Century.
