They have to reach enlightenment, they having to lead a life of selflessness and unattachment... The first person to even reached enlightenment was Buddha.... since then countless people have reached it and returned ( at least in Mahayana teachings) as Bodhisattvas. Nirvana. They believe that it is achieved by taking the eight-fold path.
The ultimate enlightenment in Buddhism is known as nirvana or the nirvana state.
!!buddhists!!
Buddhists believe in nirvana and thus do not believe in hurting anything.Their religion bans drugs.
Buddhist Awakening is another name for Enlightenment. This is a state of complete peace and realisation. All Buddhists seek to reach this as it will enable them to reach Nirvana (the Buddhist equivalent of heaven). This would end the constant cycle of reincarnation.
Buddhists will definitely attain (not get to, since nirvana is not a realm of existence) Nirvana when they practise the Eightfold Path or the Threefold Training, viz. morality, concentration, and wisdom. (Nirvana is a state of freedom from all the suffering.)
Hindus believe in moksha, which is the release from samsara (reincarnation). So in a way, they are very similar. But after achieving moksha, a person's soul is joined with Brahman, the world soul, while nirvana is the complete wiping from existence.
Buddhists strive to achieve enlightenment which removes pain from their lives by eliminating desire. Enlightenment also presents the opportunity escape the cycle of death and rebirth to participate in Nirvana a self or ego-free existence. This is an opportunity not a given as Mahayana Buddhism proposes that the enlightened would forgo Nirvana to return to be reborn into the cycle of death and rebirth to enable or aid others to become enlightened

The correct word is NIRVANA and it is a way of living that the Buddhists choose that is supposed to get you out of "the reincarnation cycle"
