Although both political parties in the United States have a less than stellar record lately, the democratic party has principles that favor regulation of the entities that make the rich more rich. Historically, it also has always been more concerned with the people on the lower end of the economic scale. The Wall Street wizards are back to making record breaking profits and the billions of private savings and retirement accounts that were lost due to their negligence have been forgotten. Only regulation and strict, meaningful oversight can stop it from happening over and over again.

Imagine if the record breaking billions in bonuses could be instead be used to repay the losses suffered by small investors who suffered such huge losses in their retirement accounts. One year's worth of Wall Street bonuses could pay them all back and make them whole again.
