Depends on the chuck. Adjustable chucks can be loosened by hand, simply twist the end of the drill. Older (or heavy duty drills) need a key to open the drill chuck. I have a McKeller cordless 18V electric drill with no hand adjustable or key adjustment visable???? I'm confused
Buy a drill bit extension. These are available at most home centers. However, if the bit is a smaller diameter than the shaft, this will not work. In most cases it is better to buy a longer bit. For very long lengths, such as 12" or more, an electrical supply store is often your best bet.
By using the chuck to open the drill press open for the bit to come out.
You generally unscrew the outer holder of the 'chuck' either by gripping or with a chuck key. -Some systems such as SDS and TE-S involve pulling the outer holder back and pulling the bit out.
In many drills you need a chuck key to fit that exact chuck. I only buy drills that don't need a key for the past 20 years.
If you open the chuck all the way and look in there you will see an allen screw you have to remove. Then the chuck will have threads you have to screw out.
You turn the chuck anti clockwise. Some chucks have a hand grip and some need a chuck key.
You loosen the chuck and remove the bit, it's as simple as that.

That size is 8-32. The drill bit for a clearance hole is 11/64, or a #17 drill bit.
Surprisingly enough- a 6 mm drill bit, or if you don't have one,1/4 drill bit will do.
How about bit (as in drill bit) or possibly awl.
