they are the same file, the jpg came for the dos world as it will only allow 3 letter extensions, the jpeg is the modern day of the jpg. make sure your extensions are showing by opening a my documents, select tools then select folder options. under the view tab un-check hide known extensions. right click on the file you want to change then just remove the "e" from jpeg.

Not actually that's not what the consumer asked, Just go to edit the picture then click save as in the upper right hand corner and select jpg. or what ever you want for it to be and it will be done. If that doesnt work make some kind of change on the photo like a little black dot that is not noticable then repeat the steps from the first sentence.

Thanks for using,

For a single task, no special requirements on the image quality, you can use even MS Paint. Open the file and save as jpeg. The same works with other image editiong programs (gimp, photoshop, irfanview...). They allow for better control over the results, because they allow to select the parameters of the jpeg algorithm as well.

Doing the same over and over is painfull with these tools (some degree of batch processing is provided, but this is not much). You should look to an image converter. For example AZImage - see related links.

Start Adobe Bridge (you have Bridge on computer if you have Adobe Photoshop CS installed), find RAW image and just double click it to open in Camera RAW Photoshop plugin, then save it as JPEG from Camera RAW.

Those are the same same files. They do not need conversion.

How do you change a photo from JPEG to RAW?

It is not possible to convert a JPEG file into a RAW format file. This is because a RAW file is a lossless recording of all the data received by the camera from the sensor and a JPEG file is a lossey compressed file containing only a fraction of this information. For this reason, the JPEG file would not contain enough data in order to recreate the amount required to generate a RAW file. RAW files can only be created directly by a camera as the image is recorded.

How do you convert JPEG to raw?

If you have Photoshop or Lightroom installed just open that image in CameraRaw Photoshop plugin or in Lightroom and save or export image as JPEG, otherwise see related link and download software which allows you to convert raw images to jpeg.

What method of output would be best for color photograph?

JPEG - JPEG images look better than RAW images if the two are compared on camera. This is because the camera's image processor processes a JPEG file so that it looks colourful and crisp without making a lot of image adjustments. A RAW file isn't processed, (hence the name RAW), just like a film negative, which is why a RAW file is often referred to as a digital negative. :)

What is file converting?

Changing from one file format to another. A few examples:converting tiff image file to a jpeg image fileconverting raw image file to a jpeg image fileconverting wordperfect document file to a word documentconverting word document file to an openoffice document fileconverting excel spreadsheet file to an openoffice spreadsheet fileconverting windows media sound file to an mpeg sound fileetc.Note: both formats must be capable of storing similar things. An image file can be converted to a different image file format, but not to a spreadsheet file format or sound file format.

Does converting a raw image after processing to jpeg make it lose it's quality Therefore negating the point of shooting in raw?

JPEG is not a loss less image format. When it is copied, it starts to degrade.

Are raw files larger than a JPEG file?

Yes.

How many form of j-peg are there?

JPEG is a definition of an image compression algorithm. Any image can be compressed using any combination of compression methods, both lossy and lossless, or a combination of both. The only real requirement for a JPEG image is that any file compressed as a JPEG must be in a format that can be read and expanded by any JPEG-supported device. JPEG is an acronym of Joint Photographic Experts Group which defines the standard. Although there is just one standard, which originated in 1992, it has been revised through the years to incorporate extensions. There are currently two primary extensions: Exif (Exchangeable Image File format) and JFIF (JPEG File Interchange Format), which largely describe how the embedded JPEG image is transported between devices. The JPEG extensions also allow multiple images to be embedded in a single file. The JPEG compression algorithm itself is a lossy algorithm which allows a degree of variability, providing a trade-off between image quality and file size. Typically, an image can be reduced to around 1/10th of its original size (10:1 compression) with little perceptible loss in quality. However, while JPEG includes a lossless mode, few products actively support it. For lossless compression, TIFF, GIF, PNG and RAW formats are the most commonly supported. The RAW format is the best format for lossless digital cameras as this captures an exact binary dump of the video chip, thus allowing image editors and post-processors to reveal data that would otherwise be lost (such as detail within shadows). Once edited, the RAW image can be compressed to JPEG or other lossy format for transport purposes. JPEG files typically have a .jpg file extension, although .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif and .jif are common alternatives for extended mode JPEG. However, the file extension is merely a hint to the file's content, nothing more, and are largely used to associate files with programs. The actual content is defined within the file's own metadata (the file header). Thus image decoders use the metadata to physically decode the file, never the file extension. JPEG can also be embedded into other formats. For instance, TIFF files often use JPEG encoding to incorporate a thumbnail of the image within the file's metadata.

Which file extension suggests an image file?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, JFIF, EXIF, TIFF, RAW, BMP, TGA, SVG. Note: Those are only some. Also, these are not case sensitive.

What is 'RAW' in photography?

If you mean a RAW file, it is used in photography because it holds more information then a JPEG and it doesn't "correct" it like a JPEG. It saves the photo like you have saved it. That is why you should shoot RAW files, but if you don't have photo shop or adobe reader, you will probably struggle to view the photo, so make sure you can convert them on your computer before you go out shooting.
