You don't need to cut the wires at all, I just got mine installed in 5 minutes with the adapter speaker plug, I got them from Amazon for 16 bucks but you save a lot of time and you don't mess the wire system of your car with the black tape and stuff.

1.Turn the vehicle's key to the "on " position.

2. Press and hold the present buttons (on your radio) 1 and 6 at the same time.

3 Turn on the radio.

- a 10 digit serial number will appear on the radio display. There will be 10 characters in the radio serial #. A U followed by 4 numbers and a L followed by 4 numbers. (Example, your display will indicate, U5132, and than L2134.

so, document the numbers, which is your radio serial #

5. Call local Acura dealer to ask for code. you have to provide them a serial # of the radio, it is FREE.

I did these steps just an hour ago, it works.

My car was in for repairs and now the radio won't work - says it needs a code. How do I get the code and input it correctly for an '03 Honda Accord?

The radio code is located on a white card that is given to you when you first by the car. I have this code but I have no idea how to put this code in. There should be a white tag in the glove box. It has 5 numbers and under it it will have a set on number/letter combination. You will need the top set with 5 numbers. Power the radio on and it will have CODE. Put in the 5 numbers using the channel buttons, and it should come right on. The dealer gave me a wrong code car. when I had to put it in and couldn't i took it to dealer. They were able to use my vin to get it from data base no charge A Honda dealer can not retrieve the code from your VIN, they can however retrieve it from the serial number on the head unit (radio). The selling dealer will many times have a file on your vehicle which will also have the code written down when they PDI the vehicle. If you incorrectly enter the code several times you must reset the radio (unplug battery wait approximately 5 minutes) and then start the process all over. You will notice on your radio code no number is more than 6, as the preset buttons 1-6 are used to enter the code. If you do not have the code, again the only way to get the number is to pull the radio and get the serial number from the radio (labor charge usually involved), the VIN has nothing to do with the radio. Hope that helps-HondaGeorge

Acura radio reset after new battery is installed?

Acura is generally one of the better cars on the road; except for this problem. When the battery is removed from the system in addition to losing your AM and FM radio presets; the radio assumes that it has been stolen, and will demand a CODE number before allowing itself to be usable. On some cars, a sticker may be place on the left hand side of the exterior of the glove box. other dealers place a sticker under the hood, inside the fuse box. Other dealers may not install a sticker with this code at all. To obtain your code, you will need your vehicle's VIN number and the serial number or the radio's code number. You can get your radio's serial number by removing your radio and looking at the serial number on the rear of the radio (fun, huh?). The preferred way is to turn the key to the ACC or ON position, and turn the radio 'ON' while depressing the radio reset buttons '1' and '6' simultaneously. The radio will display a U xxxx and then a L yyyy code, you need to know those 8 digits; write them down. Next, contact your local Acura dealer, identify yourself, your car's VIN and give him the code (xxxx yyyy) or the Serial Number; and he should be able to give you the CODE to turn your radio or Navigation system back on. This is, in my opinion, the worst, least thought out solution to anti-theft equipment I have ever come across. Almost every car on the road will have the battery fail one or more times in a car's lifetime. Thus, every Acura owner will go through this problem - this is a very poor solution to an even smaller problem; the Acura radio is not a high demand device on the black market, as they are tailored to the Acura dashboard - the only people who would need one, are those Acura drivers who already have one. There is a new problem set: According to Acura Service, at least for 2002-03 models, when the power is lost to the radio, it will not accept the code due to recent OnStar switch from analog to digital. The service department indicated a "hard reset" of all memory is required and the owner must incur the cost. There may be a work-around by taking your car to a location where there is no radio reception, or disconnecting the antenna from the radio.
