More info: I followed the instructions I found on the internet, i.e., go to Settings, Sounds, and click on email. The problem is, there's a list of items I can get alerts for (texts, voicemail, tweet, Facebook, etc.), but there is no selection for email. Email is also not listed under Notifications.
