Windows
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu5hlsn2Kf8 No more trouble now. Works on Windows 7 as well!
For Windows XP, Vista, and 7, the "logon screen" or Welcome Screen. In Windows 8, it's the "Lock Screen".
They didn't have icons, they had a blank screen with a flashing cursor. There was no such thing as a Windows type interface. You would type in commands to tell the computer what to do.
The portion of the screen that displays when windows XP is loaded is called the Desktop. It features icons for different programs, the Taskbar and the Start Button.
If you are not a fan of the lock screen on Windows 8, there are a few different ways to disable it. You can use either the Group Policy Editor or the Registry Editor.
Desktop
The desktop is the working area of the Windows 7 screen. This is where you can store your shortcuts for programs that you use.
win lock is a toggleable key found in some keyboards. when win lock has been toggled on windows key does not pop up a start menu (or start screen in windows 8)
Actually the wallpaper is just the background screen of the desktop and the desktop is where you can see the taskbar, icons and the wallpaper. Wallpaper is only the background while the desktop is the whole screen including the other things in it (ex: icons, files, windows etc.)
in my opinion the icons are stored on the desktop
Shell32.dll holds all the icons for Windows. You might want to get a third party program to change the icons for you if you are.
