Realize that as much as we wish science can explain away God, the very Earth, moon, sun, and other planets tell us of the perfect situation our planet is in is evidence of intervention.
Realization comes with a knowledge that you are energy. This first begins with self exploration and evaluation; after all how can you see the real universe when you cannot see outside of the windows of your eyes. (not mystics or magic, just knowing yourself)
If you look for answers in the right places, and you KNOW that you were created by someone that loves you individually on a plane of existence beyond human knowledge (and far beyond my own) you realize that there is much more to the universe than we see. You will then realize that the only logical answer is that God exists.
You become aware of yourself (most people are not), and then you realize more than what you have been handed by religion (religion does in fact improve most people's lives) and you see for yourself simply what is and has always been right before you. Here is an example..

This is like peace. Peace is not a place you find or a fountain you wash yourself in once. It is every day, and when we walk it with intent now, and do the right things even when no one is watching our future is better. Self-realization is a journey, where you start by understanding what you were not. You go in quest and realize you are not the body, you realize you are not even the mind, then you realize the self, you realize that you are the Divine, you are the Spirit, the Soul, the Atman. That is the self-realization journey. Unfortunately, we human beings think we are the ego, the body and the mind. Therefore there is no self-realization, there is misery, there is suffering. Unless we go in quest of the self, we will never realize the Truth. Until we open our real eyes, we will never know who we are and why we are here. So the only way to realize who you are is to first realize who you are not, that will take you forward on the journey of self-realization.
