there is no gasket, remove the pan by taking out the bolts and prying it off the bottom of the block(it may bend, just straighten it on a 2x4 with a hammer), clean the mating surfaces of ALL sealant, put a 1/8" bead of black rtv all the way around the pan (toward the inside of each bolt hole and where there are no holes centered on the surface) wipe oil off block and carefully reinstall without disturbing the rtv.

I dont think you could change the Transmission oil for the 1996 Toyota Tercel. Its sealed.
When you do a oil change on a 1986 Toyota Tercel it holds 4.5 quarts of oil. As recommended in the owners manual always double check your dipstick after changing the oil and putting in new oil.
oil can come from about any were, it could be coming from the rear main or the front you can ha gasket that you need to replace.
You need to follow the same procedure as for timing belt replacement. But in the case of the oil pump you have to remove the oil pan too. There is a strainer attached to the oil pump from the bottom you will have remove it too. Then replace the oil pump, make sure that you have replace the oil pan gasket, and oil pump gasket.
