I suggest giving him/her some deodorant as a gift. Surprise them with a basket of stuff...put munchies, shampoo, deodorant, body wash, etc in it. If he/she doesn't get the hint, you might just have to come out and tell him/her about the body odor.
If I were you, I would get her best friend to tell her. What if she does't know? You wanna be sure she's aware without hurting her feelings. She may not be that gracious if you tell her. I know I wouldn't ;p
