What are the basic things to train a dog?

The most effective way I have found is to attach their leash to their collar/harness and then around your belt/waistline and keep them with you all day. Take them out where they are to potty very very often and praise them when they potty where they should. Don't make a big deal of accidents but do show them where to potty again. This takes a couple days, maybe up to four for a smart dog. At night, those puppy pee pads you can buy from the pet supply store are wonderful if your dog is not crated. They have some sort of scent in them that makes the puppy want to potty on them. Be sure to take puppy out to potty right after it eats, plays, sleeps. Generally about a thousand times a day.

Well to train your dog to be the best it can, what you have to do is get it when it's young and to train it in its first few weeks of getting it. Here is some easy-to-hard things to train it: Sit, Stay, Lie Down. Medium: Shake, Sniff, Jump. Hard: Speak, Chase, (as in chasing its tail) Dance, Beg, Play Dead. Hope you do well!

For all Dog Training of any age. I highly recommend positive reinforcement and clicker training. Look those up on YouTube, at it will show tutorials. Animals that are used in the movie industry all are trained by P.R, Clickers and treats. Please do not look on T.V for how to train dogs as most are just trying to make money. Look for some positive trainers with experience in your area and try to take part in some classes they offer.

A kind way to train your dog is clicker training. There is no negative punishment only positive reward. Buy a clicker at a local pet store. Start by just clicking the clicker and giving the dog a treat. Soon the dog will realize that a click means a treat. Stand in front of your dog and start with something simple. Sit is a great first trick. Stand in front of your dog and wait for it to sit. You may need to hold the treat over his head to make him look up and sit back. The minute his butt hits the ground click and give him a treat. Continue this. After he sits without the bribe, say sit and when he sits click and treat. Eventually he will sit without you haveing to give him a treat. This works for any trick. I taught my dog this way and now I can walk her down the street with no leash and she is a perfect angel.
