First, wash the car with lots of soap and water. Then dry the car to keep from developing water spots. Anything left on the car after the wash will show up under the coat of wax, so try to get it as clean as possible. Second, move the car into a covered area or in the evening so the sun isn't beating directly on the vehicle. Apply the wax in sections with a small sponge or lint-free cloth. Avoid getting wax in cracks that you cannot get to (e.g. vents, lettering, emblems) After the wax dries, remove the wax with a different lint-free cloth (I use microfiber) and take your time. Pressing hard won't help. Gentle pressure until the surface feels completely smooth under the cloth. Make sure you get the cracks or you'll have white crust that will be harder to remove the longer you wait.
