not muchEmancipation has the same stipulation's as basic custody law. Its "what's best", not what makes the child happy that desides custody rights.

Wait until your 17, which I know seems long away. However trying to emancipate yourself at 16 is a waste of time, because it could take a year or more to complete anywase, considering you apparently have no legal standing).

The State of Iowa does not have statutory emancipation procedures for minors. The legal age of majority for the state is 18.
