It acts as a RADAR unit, sending radio waves and measuring the amount of time it takes for them to come back.

radio telescopes monitor radio signals from outer space. The signals are analysed and classified by type to determine the nature of the source and widen our knowledge of astrophysics and cosmology.

Well I know how a Reflection Telescope works. It takes the object your looking at let's say Mars and puts it through a series of mirrors usually two and magnifies it so it appears larger than with the naked eye.

Astrophotography- to record images of celestial objects, naturally, special time exposures, guiding ( to eliminate the effects of the Earth"s rotation) and specialized skills involved, not for the average shutterbug.

The telescope uses the optic lens for you to see through. The telescope uses light to display on the optic lens.

Light telescopes do one thing and one thing only; they take light that reaches earth and they magnify it. In principle telescopes are like magnifying lenses that you use to increase the size of print, or even like microscopes. They take light that is already there, and they magnify it so our weak eyes can see it. Telescopes don't do anything strange like 'extend out' somehow to capture something 'in space'. The only light that a telescope can magnify is light that has reached earth.

How are telescopes used in astronomy?

Telescopes are used to see things that are far away from earth. Using telescopes we can see things that are millions of miles away. Most of the telescopes are on Earth but some of them are in space such as the Hubble Space Telescope.

How have telescopes changed since they were invented?

They have changed because now there is a telescope in space called the "Hubble". I can see things that regular telescopes on Earth cannot see.

What are the use of the telescope?

we use telescopes for seeing things in outer space

What are instruments looking at things is space?

Telescopes, designed for various wavelengths, are looking at things in space.

What impact did the first space shuttle have on the world..... as in did it make society to day different?

The space shuttle helped us to be able to go into space and find out lots of info. we did not know. Before we had the space shuttle all we had were telescopes. Telescopes were good but all that they gave us were a picture and then we had to estimate how far away things in the universe were from other things were in the universe. Now that we have the space shuttle we are able to see things that we may not have seen with the telescope. We are also able to see how far away things are from other things

What are two characteristics of telescopes that allowed Galileo to see so much in space?

reflecting and refracting telescopes

What is the mission of telescopes?

The mission of a Telescope is to study or see space.

What items on Earth are used to look into space?

Strictly speaking, you cannot see "outer space", because space is almost entirely empty. That means that there is nothing there to reflect light back to our eyes, so we don't see anything. But to view things on the other side of the "almost entirely empty" outer space - things like moons, planets and stars - we typically use many versions of telescopes, although you can see examples of each with your bare eyes.

How have telescopes impacted on society?

so we could see in oter space

Are space telescopes manned or unmanned satellites?

All space telescopes are unmanned - unless you want to count the small telescopes on the Shuttle or IIS as space telescopes.

What have telescopes discovered and found out?

Telescopes have helped discover many things in space that are not visible such as some of the outer planets of our solar system.
