Patriotism requires that one will l blindly follow the leadership of ones country. For instance Germans that looked after concentration camps were patriots, as were the Japanese that tortured and and murdered Chinese and for that mater war prisoners, not to mention the the people walking around with bombs strapped to them selves, patriots one and all. Not all patriots are bad. In fact, the patriots listed above are a minority. Most patriots are like little kindegarteners saying "I pledge Alligence to the Flag, of the United States of America" Or a family that watches the fireworks on the Fourth of July, or a little boy hugging his Daddy before he goes off to fight in the war. Patriotism helped the Americans settle their country, and when people are proud of their country, it is patriotism. Loving your country doesn't mean you agree with your countries past or their policies. But just as a house isn't a home, until your loved ones are there, so is a country. You have to have love for patriotism to sprout roots and grow. Many German's didn't agree with Hiltler, but they loved the land, their home, their family, and though it may have seemed like all hope was lost for Germany, the rebuilt afterwards, and the bond of Patriotism regrew.
