The Puritans tended to have a more pessimistic view of life, focusing on themes of sinfulness, redemption, and the inevitability of suffering in this world. They believed in the concept of predestination, where God decides who will be saved or damned, contributing to their sense of pessimism.

do puritans view man as inherently good evil or somewhere in between ?
Puritans were generally pessimistic in their worldview, believing in the concept of original sin and emphasizing the idea of predestination. They believed that humans were inherently sinful and that only a select few were chosen by God for salvation, leading to a focus on introspection, self-discipline, and living a morally upright life.
The Puritans believed in the importance of education for both spiritual and practical reasons. They established schools to ensure that children could read the Bible and also to prepare them for participation in civic life. Education was seen as a means to cultivate a well-rounded individual and to maintain a strong religious community.
