Having contradictory views from the main stream Muslims they considered as non-Muslims in some countries like in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. It is important to note that while Ahmadis consider themselves to be Muslims, their assertion that Mirza Ghulam is a prophet leads most Sunnis, Shiites, and Ibadi Muslims to declare them to be heretics. (According to mainstream Islam, nobody after Mohammed can prophesy and Mirza Ghulam lived in the 19th-20th centuries.)
