It is impossible to say for certain since many gay people chose not to make public about their sexual preference. Some people say that it may be as high as 10% of the population, however this is probably a major exagerration.

Is it possible to have gay fantasies and not be gay?
This kind of thing can cause so much needless stress for people. A gay thought does not make a person gay. In fact, many people in their 20's, 30's and beyond, may have a single gay encounter, or a brief 'fling', and this does not mean that the person is gay. There is also no requirement that straight people have this kind of experience. Think of it this way. We are, all of us, sexy. I mean this in a general sense of course; I wouldn't do well competing for degree of sex appeal against current movie stars. But as sexual and sexy people, we can at times be attracted to other sexual and sexy people, even of the same sex. People shouldn't go crazy over this, and this is absolutely NOT license to engage in unfaithfulness.
