Unfortunately, the statistics for War Veterans in America goes by each State (in Canada, Province to Province). If you type in Google and once it's up, type in "American War Veterans in ____" and then put the State name in you will get the stats.
There actually isn't a correct total to a census to war vets and I have no idea why. I did come up with one, but the figures didn't make any sense. For example:
Vietnam Vets who refused to return .. 0
Vietnam Vets alive at end of 2003 ... 591
Although this chart did not go by State it must be some State with such a low figure.
Also, I do know for a fact that many young American men came to Canada because they didn't believe in the Vietnam War.
Sorry I couldn't get better stats for you, but if you go into Google as I suggested and go state by state you should get some facts and figures.
