about 35 cents
There are many pictures on eBay of this coin. Just look through the listings for one with a good picture. Also I believe it is in volume 1 of the Cherrypickers guide to rare die varieties by Bill Fivaz.
The letter F you see is not a mintmark it's the initial of James Earle Fraser the designer of the coin. And all Buffalo Nickels have it. If the coin has a mintmark it's on the reverse under FIVE CENTS. 1935 is a very common date, coins in circulated condition have retail values of 25 cents to $3.00.
Buffalo nickels, like modern nickels, are made of 75% copper and 25% nickel, NOT silver. 1935 is a common date, worth a dollar or two in average condition and upwards of $25-30 if uncirculated. A 1935-D is worth a little more.
The letter you see is an "E". James Earle Fraser the designer of the coin. And all Buffalo Nickels have it. 1935 is a very common date, coins in circulated condition have retail values of 25 cents to $3.00.
First make sure your coin really is upside down. All US coins have their reverse side oriented 180º to the front, so the words FIVE CENTS should be near the same point on the back rim of the coin as the top of the Chief's head on the front. If they aren't 180º apart you could have what's called a rotated-die error. These can be moderately valuable but you would need to have your coin inspected in person by someone who deals with error coins. If the coin has the normal orientation found on standard US coins it's worth the same as all other 1935 nickels. Please see the question "What is the value of a 1935 US nickel?" for more information.
No Buffalo nickels have silver regardless of date, but the value of a 1935 in average condition is 25 cents
Try a coin dealer.
It's not worth much. What you have is a novelty item, not a mint error.
All Buffalo nickels have the "F" under the date it's the initial of the designer James Earle Fraser. Values for average coins are $1.00-$3.00
1935 is not a rare date for Buffalo nickels. Look for a small D or S under the words FIVE CENTS on the back. If there's no letter, or an S, in circulated condition it's worth about 75¢ to $1. A nice uncirculated one is worth about $35. If there's a D, it's worth $1 or more; uncirculated ones sell for $70 or more.
