"Reptomin Floating Food Sticks" are a good choice. They include the vitamins RES turtles need to be healthy. Supplement that staple with "Turtle Bites" which are made of fruits and vegetables.
As treats, these turtles can be given large amounts of red leaf lettuce. They may be given small amounts of strawberries, melon, cooked meat and most vegetables.
From their tank, they will eat anacharis (water plant) and goldfish, guppies, tadpoles and ghost shrimp.

∙ 15y agoRed Ear Sliders require a minimum 20 gallon tank with a submersible heater. (by the time they are fullgrown, they will require a 40 gallon tank). Usually it is a good idea to get a mesh/wire grid to go over the top of the tank to prevent the turtle from escaping, and your pet cat from "fishing". Turtles need a good filter. They need UVA/UVB rays, which you can buy a special bulb for. They also require a basking light, so a secondary light which emits heat is a good idea. They also need a platform to get out of the water. You can purchase floating platforms where one end is sloped down into the water so they can climb up on easily. And finally, a good variety of high quality food. Turtles need to be kept clean, so it is imperative that 25% water changes are done regularly as well as keeping the filter cleaned out.
