∙ 12y agoThe circulatory system is very complex. First, the blood is pumped out the pulmonary arteries into the lungs, where the blood is filled with oxygen. Next, the blood returns to the heart via the pulmonary veins. It then exits through the aorta (the largest artery in the body) and travels through the body, carrying nutrients and oxygen to the cells and taking waste products from the cells. When the blood is on its way back to the heart, it switches from arteries to veins. It enters the heart through the vena cava, and the whole process begins again. (Note: This simply gives an overview of how the blood travels through the body)
