1. Stop the bleeding with a clean cloth, paper towel, or if it's a life-threatening bleed, push on it with pressure with the palm of your hand, or whatever you have.
2. If it's a little wound, then next, hug and reassure the toddler. Hey, it works for me!!
3. If the wound is band-aid size, clean the wound with soap and water, then apply antiseptic (hydrogen peroxide is good . . .), and finish with a nice band-aid.
4. If the wound is bleeding heavily enough to be life-threatening, keep pressure on the wound to minimize bleeding, then get a ride to the emergency room, fast !!
5. If the wound is too much for a large band-aid to cover it, or so that the bleeding is minimized, then see a doctor about evaluating the damage and possibly for closing the wound with stitches.
Apply a "kiss to make it better" at your own discretion.
