Hi,
To reset the check engine light have you tried disconnecting the battery and touching the two terminals together for 30 seconds? This should drain all residual power out of the electrical system and in turn reset your computer and all lights.

Please use caution if you unhook the battery and you have a theftlock factory GM radio....the radio wont work if you dont know the theftlock code.
The question i would want answered is "why is the check engine light on" ? You may be damaging your catalytic converter. You will want to know the code associated with the check engine.
If there is an Autozone near you they will read and erase the code for you for free. Plus tell you what the code means and if it is anything to worry about.
