Russian Revolution was to get rid of tsar Nicholas II and establish a democratic Provisional government, which would focus on economic and social reform. Provisional government failed and Lenin & the Bolsheviks took control establishing a communist state. He developed the NEP or new economic policy and then after him came Stalin who created the Five Year Plan and established the system of rapid industrialization and agricultural collectivization-resulted in millions of deaths.

Mexican revolution was the lower class led by certain church members fighting of land redistribution and to get rid of the monopoly the elite had on the lives of the peasant class.

Chinese revolution defeated the Manchu (Qing dynasty) and established the Kuomintang which was led by Sun-yat Sen, who goal was to create a democratic society and reform Chinese economy. He was forced out of the power and the communists defeated the government establishing a communist regime led by Mao Zedong. He established many reforms for industrialization and collectivization based on the examples of the Soviet Union. Communist China was reformed and still exists, thanks to Deng Xiangon's reform policies after Mao. the Soviet Union collapsed and communism was removed from that area.

It is interesting the Karl Marx, a German Jew, built his political theories of communism on the belief that it would ultimately rule in the industrialized societies. Instead, the Marx program has almost entirely come to power in chiefly agrarian economies.

Marx thought Germany, highly industrialized by 1900, was ripe for Communism, but it never took hold there. Instead the system came to power in Russia in 1917. Russia had some rudimentary industry but was chiefly a rural, agricultural nation.

Likewise, China was largely agrarian when the communists took hold in the 1930s and 40s.

Both revolutions were brutal to the people they claimed to have come to save. Millions died under both regimes as power was consolidated, far more than those killed fighting outside powers such as Germany or Japan.

Both revolutions had to overcome strong political/military forces within the nation. Russian communists fought a long and bloody civil war against 'white' Russians, those who favored some sort of return to monarchy. The Red Chinese fought against Nationalist Chinese, who were brutal in their own right but had at least some tolerance for civil liberties and economic freedom.

Ultimately both revolutions have failed. Obviously the communist system is dead in Russia although some dictatorial tendencies remain. The Chinese are technically ruled by communists but the nations is now obviously one of merchants and industrialists, the very people supposedly despised by Lenin and Mao.

Otherwise, both systems sought to export their brand of communism to others. For Russia this meant Cuba, Poland, Hungary, Korea, and others. For China it meant Vietnam.

Some similarities-Both were led by two very charismatic, and very egoistic personalities-Lenin and Mao. Both men were able to rally the populace into revolutionaries Both were Communist Revolutions, supposedly to rally the Peasants against the perceived Ruling classes. Some Differences- The Russian revolution was characterised by a revolt against a Ruling Tsar(King),and was brought on by the End of WW1. The Chinese Revolution was more of a Civil War with Maos Peasant Army fighting Chiang-Kai's Nationalists Army. As to this,The fighting was put off until Japan was Defeated in 1945.The Fighting resumed afterwards, with Maos Forces defeating the Nationalists in 1949 These are just a few off the top of my head, there are many more differences and similarities.
