If a neighbors pit bull breaks into your yard and attacks your dogs how do you find out who insures their house so you can notify the company of the vicious animal?

if the neighbor (I'm awful sorry about this...would be rough living next door to this, i know my sister had same situation, i hope YOUR animals are ok and thank the Lord no children were out), will not give you the information, did you call the police? the pound? will the authorities make them give it to you? Call the responding authority and ask, many city's require anyone with with pit bulls to have a high liability limit on their policys and proof of same with the city (city i live in does this), if they absolutely will not give it to you, (you need to file a claim with them anyway for the damage to your yard, and animals, may be denied, but in many states will provide some coverage under the liab. portion of the policy many variables though)... i would get my facts/estimates/bills/many many photos together and file a small claims case. or if your loss is higher than this limit i'd get an attorney...that more than likely will make them file a claim their selves, thus notifying the company of the risk......as a side note, many many insurance companys will not 'knowingly' insure a home with a pit bull...(sorry i don't make the rules), and once they know there is one there they will give the owners 'x' amount of time to get rid of the animal or cancel the policy....of course this all depends on the policy/application wording etc.....let me know how this comes out if you don't mind, I'll be thinking of you..........lori
