Most states won't bother if you are 17 yrs old. Father can TRY to press charges, but since mother has sole custody it is going to be difficult. Plus to prove the charges they would have to prove that the two of you had sexual relations. There is nothing illegal about a dating relationship that does not involve sexual relations. What you need to watch out for is if you were having sexual relations before you were 17 since molestation charges have no statute of limitations - meaning he can be charged and convicted for it if he EVER touched you in any sexual way before you were 17 (or 18 depending on the state) It depends upon the laws of the state in which you reside. Several US states have statutes that set the AOC at 18. The issue of custody is not relevant, as parental consent regardless of the issue, cannot supercede a contrary existing law. Parental consent does not override the law. Check with your local county courthouse to see what the age of maturity or consent is. You dont have to identify yourself and then if its 18 and over then, he could. If its over 16 then your ok.
