If you discovered an elaborate series of lies by your boyfriend should you believe him when he says it was the first time he lied to you?

No as it was a series of lies. He just admitted because he got caught in them. I wouldn't believe another word. Also it depends though on what he lied about, was it his childhood, maybe he is embarrssed?

AnswerThanks for the viewpoint. sure it was embarassing for him to get caught. but his lies were so extensive..he lied everyday about his history, present and future. Said because we met online he lied initially to keep his anonymity and then it just snowballed and he didnt know how to turn back. AnswerI was married to a compulsive liar. I did not find out until after I ckicked him out just how much he had lied. He lied so much that it would take too long to go over all of the lies! He lied about where he was, his friends, he even told me one friend of his was right from Ireland. I then talked with this so called Irishman and he was never from there and had not the slightest hint of an accent! He lied about jobs, money anything and everything. He lied when he didnt even have too lie or when it wouldn't even make him look better. He just lied because it was comfortable to him. He never changed and he never will. I find it hard to believe it was the first time given he could keep elaborate lies like that going everyday without it showing. He would even lie about family members being seriously ill when they weren't. He was so overwrought about family members being ill and so detailed about the illnesses it was impossible to detect it was all lies. He even cried over these fictious situations. Normal people tell white lies and have trouble doing so without showing signs they are lieing. Are these people sick? Why do they do it..to get sympathy or attention? Are they prone to violence when their lies are exposed?
