Yes, Greece is a European country bordered on the north by Albania, FYROM and Bulgaria and the south by the Mediterranean Sea.
It would be more correct to consider Greece as a Mediterranean country or a Southern European country than to categorize it as a Western or Eastern European country. While it is true that Greece is on the eastern half of the European continent, it was never part of the Eastern European Communist bloc and was instead on the western side of the Iron Curtain. As a result, Greece has a political culture that is much more similar to Italy and Spain in Western Europe than to its geographic neighbors in Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, and Albania).
Well, Slovenia has close ties to Western Europe (which has overall been much more prosperous than its Eastern counterpart) which explains some economical prospering. However, I would not call Slovenia the most prosperous Eastern European country. For example, it has not experienced much prospering at all; its economy is currently growing at a rate of about 1% annually, one of the lowest in the world. Moldova is the most economically prospering nation in Eastern Europe, with about a 7% growth annually. Its population is also growing at one of the slowest rates in the world, about -0.2% annually; Albania is the fastest growing with a population growth rate of about 0.6%. Slovenia actually has the second largest average income in Eastern Europe, second to Greece. The only true reason you could argue that Slovenia is the most prosperous is because it is the most developed nation in Eastern Europe according to the UN's Human Development Index.
