The jury is still out about this question. It has been for the last fifty years or so. The proponents of "Strong AI" say that Artificial Intelligence should be a model of human intelligence. The camp of "Weak AI" says that any computer program doing a reasonable job at a task that should require intelligence is intelligent. The Turing test goes with the latter. Many successes of computer applications - e.g. computer Chess machines, OCR, speech recognition, web search - use methods which are probably very different than what the human brain uses.

AI, in other words Artificial Intelligence. Humans posses a power called intelligence. It allows us to function everyday of our lives, walking or calculating complicated maths problems. Artificial Intelligence is created by the Human Intelligence to try and forge or copy our intelligence. An AI on the computer is an automated object that is being moved about. Depend on the intelligence of the computer it can do a variety of stuff. AI can be caculated in toughness a game could be. The best chess player was beaten by a computer AI called "Deep Blue". This was the trigger that resigned a well known and famous defeat. So after that explanation, YES, it is simulating human intelligence.
