Hello,
I am five weeks pregnant as well, and have lower abdominal cramps and lower back pains as well, I called three different nurses and they all said it's very normal, and unless you're doubled over or bleeding not to worry, it's just the increase of blood flow to the uterus and the stretching of your muscles to make room for the baby. So, I'm still scared to death, but I've looked it up and it seems lots of women experience these.

There is such a wide range of normal that I would not worry unless the cramps are really bad and/or you have bleeding.
YES! the fetus is headed towards the birth canal and it puts pressure on it! good luck with the birth! youre gunna need it!

The lower abdomen don't get hard until you are several months into the pregnancy. Right now the embryo is very tiny. First the belly will build up more fat on the stomach for protection. Usually you don't start to show until second trimester.
A friend of mine had a similar thing, she thought it was normal which it usually is, but found out she had Placenta Previa (I think that's what its called). Definitely get it checked out.
The spotting is always cause for concern. Get in to see the doctor any time you have spotting while you're pregnant. Pain in the lower abdomen can be serious but it can also be pulling ligaments. Again, see your doctor if you have any questions.
Go see a doctor ASAP.
It means that your lower ribs going into your abdomen are larger than normal.
In the lower part of your abdomen, you have the uterus, placed above the vagina. The normal size of the non-pregnant uterus is 3*2*1 inches. This enlarges to enormous size to accommodate the fetus during pregnancy.

If you are slim you will probably start to notice the difference when you are 14-15 weeks pregnant. If you are carrying more fat in the abdominal area you will notice it later.
The brown line that some pregnant women get down the middle of the lower abdomen is called the linea nigra.
