as far as I'm concerned, farsi is among the easiest languages on the face of the planet and I'll explain my position.
i am a native speaker of English. i grew up speaking spanish as a second language. my grandmother was from Mexico and she never really learned English so i could only communicate with her in spanish that i learned growing up.
i joined the airforce as a linguist when i was 20 and was assigned to learn farsi at the defense language institute. i joined up with the intent of becoming a linguist in the first place because i had an interest in languages, particularly languages from the Middle East. for many native English speakers, learning the Arabic alphabet and learning the peculiar sounds of farsi may be difficult initially.
But once you've learned the basics, the consistency of the grammar makes farsi a very easy language to learn. granted, i was very interested in learning it, but I've studied spanish, English, Arabic, and farsi, and as far as grammar and vocabulary goes, farsi is easily the most learnable. spelling is difficult, given that there are four letters that represent both the 'z' and 's' sounds, and that only 3 of 6 vowels are written down. but as an everyday speaking language, farsi is, in my opinion, a very easy language to learn, due mainly to the consistency of its grammar. and quite beautiful to boot.
Farsi can be challenging due to its unique script and grammar rules, but it's certainly achievable with dedication and practice. Some English speakers may find aspects of Farsi easier than others based on their language background. Immersion, consistent study, and practicing with native speakers can help in mastering Farsi.
It depends on the person, but in general, it is considered to have a moderate-level of difficulty for English speakers.
The Foreign Service Institute ranks languages into 5 categories for difficulty, and Farsi is in Category IV (with Category V being the most difficult).

Arabic belongs to the Semitic language family, Farsi belongs to the Indo-European language family. So yes, Farsi has more in common with Russian, French, Irish, and English than it does with Arabic.
Farsi is easier but this does not mean that Arabic is a harsh language to learn. Aside from their different script, they both are easier than French in my opinion.
