Like anything else electronic in nature now days, it can be. It really depends on the part that's gone bad, the amount of labor it takes to replace it (that's where the biggest expense generally is) and whether or not the part is even available for a repair.
If it's not an expensive camera, you're probably just better off replacing it. After all, we're trending toward a throw-away society. Not only with our products, but with our highly trained people, too.
