Disconnect transfer case. Y-THINK-Y Disconnect transfer case. But I do not suggest doing so!!! Besides, it will not save you any gas! Y-THINK-Y Answer:
Yes it is possible. The transfer case you most likely have is the New Process 249J. Referred to as the "QuadraDrive". What you want is the New Process 242J, referred to as the "Selectrac". This will give you 2WD, 4WD Part time, 4WD Full time, Neutral, 4WD Low. I just did this swap in my 95 JGC for about $900 total with a reman transfer case from Ebay (George Kreppien) Included in this price is a new speed sensor, 4WD switch, Engine oil change and Transmission Oil change. The actual T/C swap took about 6 hours doing it myself. You will also need to change the 4WD lever indicator bezel as well as some minor wiring change behind the radio in the vehicle information center (VIC). I think this is a fantastic thing, as it made it quieter in the cab, but it is CONSIDERABLY different when operating on dry pavement. George has provided excellent information and a 1 yr / 15K mi. warranty on the T/C I purchased. You will need to drop both driveshafts, remove the skid plate, and lower the rear transmission mount. THere are 6 bolts that hold the T/C to the transmission. You can do this with it about 18" higher off the floor than normal. I used (4) HD jack stands. SAFETY SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST!!!. The T/C weighs about 95 to 100 Lb. and can be handled relatively easily. Good Luck!
your acuator is pooched change it but check the fuse first drive safe
1998 2wd What year? 2WD or 4WD? 2WD 1996
Some are 4wd, some 2wd, and some are awd. Some are 4wd, some 2wd, and some are awd.
A 1987 4-speed ford ranger with over drive is a 4wd and not 2wd.
No. The 2WD Version is front wheel drive.
You will have to REMOVE the transmission and flywheel, Then pop the old seal out and drive the new 1 in.
You really cannot without rebuilding the car, drive train, etc. Cheaper to sell and buy the AWD FX.
Yes ( either two wheel drive or 4x4 )
Rear wheel drive
how do i change a lower ball joint on a 1992 ranger 2wd
ok the last time i checked a 2wd s 10 is rear wheel drive there for does not have a front drive axle unless it is 4wd.
Any of the 4WD Subaru GLs are primary front wheel drive with either mechanical or electromechanical actuation of the rear drive axle. So, in 2WD, only the front wheels drive the car.
